Those Little Things in Life
Liverpool Street Station on a Sunday evening has never felt so busy. I was travelling to the McDonald’s in the station and, although busy, it was quiet compared to a Saturday night. You (and I promise this) do not want to be in that McDonald’s on a Saturday night. I was in the area and Macca’s is surprisingly scarce around that area. I ordered a large Coca Cola with ice and a BBQ Chicken Bacon One Wrap (crispy, if you must know). When I collected my wrap, it looked like there was barely any ingredients in it. I didn’t feel in the mood for an argument. But when I bit into it… something magical happened. Let’s just say I was thrilled that I didn't complain.
Surveys. I love to do surveys. I do them at home, on the bus, on the train, walking, sitting in the middle of a shopping centre (not literally, like on a bench or somewhere with a charger close by), everywhere. When people say “Oh, hi Trish! What are you up to? What are you doing for work?”, I generally reply “Oh, I do surveys.”. They look bewildered at first, but then they repeat the word ‘surveys’. I love this freeing lifestyle. I have done surveys for pretty much everything: fast food brands, jewellery, living in London, etc. Some surveys are one minute long, and some can take up to 2 hours. I once got a survey about printers, and I still hate it to this day.
So, what was the point of those last two stories (or three, if you like being picky)? The point is there are little things in life that’ll bring you joy. There isn’t much joy in the world (most of the time), so we must make or find our own joy. Now, I’m not telling you to go into minus for that trip to the Mediterranean that you’ve been putting off for ages (because money’s so bad); I’m just saying that if you wanted to always take up Samba dancing, what better day to start than tomorrow?
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy your half term. And remember: there are few little joys in life, so we must enjoy them.
